Does VixFrame upload my video?
No. Your video file, decoded frames, and captures stay in the current browser tab. VixFrame does not receive the video content.
Does extracting a frame reduce image quality?
At original size, VixFrame draws the decoded video frame without player-size scaling. PNG is lossless; JPG, WebP, and AVIF use the quality level you choose.
Why does PNG show “Lossless · 100%” with a disabled quality slider?
PNG has no adjustable quality level because it is exported losslessly. “100%” means VixFrame does not apply lossy compression; it does not add detail beyond the decoded video frame. JPG, WebP, and AVIF use the quality setting you choose.
Which image format should I choose: PNG, JPG, WebP, or AVIF?
PNG is lossless and best for retaining detail or further editing. JPG offers the broadest compatibility and usually smaller files for sharing. WebP often balances quality and size. AVIF can compress more efficiently, but encoding is slower and requires browser support. JPG, WebP, and AVIF have adjustable quality; PNG is always lossless.
Which video formats are supported?
Format support depends on your browser. H.264 MP4 and WebM usually work best. Some MOV, MKV, or H.265 files may not play directly.
Can I move through a video frame by frame?
Yes. VixFrame estimates the frame rate from frames presented during playback and uses that duration for arrow-key and frame-button steps. You can enter the source FPS manually when needed.
Can I capture several consecutive frames?
Yes. Set “Frames after current” from 1 to 120, or use Range capture to extract between two timecodes every N seconds or N frames.
How do I capture a frame in fullscreen?
Press C while fullscreen to capture the current frame. A capture button also remains visible in the fullscreen player. Press F or Escape to leave fullscreen.
Can I download every captured frame at once?
Yes. Open the frame library and choose “Download all as ZIP.” VixFrame packages the original PNG, JPG, WebP, and AVIF files locally in your browser.
Do many captures use server storage?
No. Captures are stored in the current tab's memory. A large collection of high-resolution images can use significant device memory, so download and clear them when finished.
Can I capture frames from multiple videos before downloading?
Yes. Frames remain in the library when you switch videos, and the ZIP groups them into folders by video.
Will my captured frames remain after a refresh?
Not in the current version. Download any frames you need before refreshing or closing the tab.
